A life shaped by hymns, gurus and one freedom fighter
Dr. Pavithra R Prabhakar Reddy. Singer, social worker, and public representative. This is the full account of a journey that began on temple premises in Channapattana.
Early life
Born into a tradition of reverence
Pavithra was born on 12 May 1987 into an orthodox Vishwakarma household, a tradition that kept Dharmagurus and the elderly of the community in high regard, and that treated service to the needy as ordinary duty rather than exceptional virtue.
She picked up a flair for music at an early age. Chanting hymns for hours together alongside the senior members of her family on the temple premises turned an aptitude into a lifetime fascination, and it was this music that would later change the direction of her life entirely.
The turning point
The freedom fighter who redirected a life
Pavithra's quest for adding more meaning and reach to her work found expression after meeting the senior freedom fighter Shri H.S. Doreswami. Under the light of his guidance, she vowed to serve and strive for the society's less privileged through a number of welfare programmes, besides propagating and enriching Indian music and the arts.
That vow became an institution. In 2016 she established the Saantvana Music & Charitable Foundation (R), a body designed so that the proceeds of music would flow directly into service.

Appointed President of the Bengaluru South district (Women's Youth Wing) of Youth INTUC, the Karnataka State Youth Wing of the Indian National Trade Union Congress. The appointment order was issued by Chairman Shri Varun Kumar S.K, on the recommendation of Shri D. Lakshmi Venkatesh, General Secretary, Main INTUC.
